The power play has emerged

Victor Olofsson isn't the only difference-maker for the Vegas Golden Knights on the power play this season. Tomas Hertl (seven goals and four assists on the man advantage) has been equally important, adding another big body to the mix. Now you must account for Stone and Hertl on the unit, making matters more complex.

In fact, his impact is vastly understated on the unit. Since Hertl stepped on the ice for the Golden Knights on April 8, they have a power play percentage of 30.1%. Remember the franchise high for the unit in a single season is 22% in 2019-20. For an 82-game season? 21.3% in 2017-18.

Back in the day, the Golden Knights power play was the proverbial punching bag. Fans lost faith in the unit, mainly from the Pete DeBoer/Steve Spott days. However, the narrative is changing around the group, giving fans another reason to believe in their team. One can say it was a gift they didn't expect.
