Three Takes on Game Knight #4

1 – Spend extended time in the box, you will eventually pay
Six penalties in the second period was the ultimate killer and it showed not only on the scoreboard, but on the stat sheet. In every way, the Flames, were ready to pounce when it came time to capitalize on those opportunity. The good thing is the season is young. There is time to work on solving this.

2 – Logan Thompson was excellent and it showed
The amazing thing was Logan Thompson actually gave the Golden Knights a chance to walk out of Calgary with some points. Yes, the Flames scored three goals to win the game, but they also had an eye-popping 40 total shots on goal. If he continues to play like he did against the Flames, Kings and Blackhawks, the Golden Knights will have something special on their hands over the course of the season.

3 – The first test was a failure
The game against the Flames was the start of a major test for the Golden Knights to find out what kind of hockey team they will be this season. The next three games include a trip to Winnipeg and Colorado, followed by a road game against the always dangerous Toronto Maple Leafs. After the game, Bruce Cassidy was asked about the game in general alluding to the upcoming games as well.

“I don’t think we passed the test. We didn’t get cheated, they won. They were better than us over the course of 60 minutes.” – Bruce Cassidy on the Golden Knights performance in Calgary.

We will see how this team bounces back from a loss with a date in Winnipeg, It is a game that the Golden Knights are expected to win.
