Early last season the Golden Knights claimed Michael Amadio off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs. The move has been a very beneficial one for both the Golden Knights and Amadio as the 26-year old center fits right into the club’s third and fourth lines. On January 30, the Golden Knights signed Amadio to a two-year extension worth $1.525 million, which keeps him with the team through the end of the 2023-24 season. In 56 games, Amadio picked up 18 points (11 goals, 7 assists), which is very impressive considering his limited time on the ice.

This is a part of a series of profile features on the complete Golden Knights roster heading into the 2022-23 season.

What to expect with Michael Amadio in 2022-23

The main thing we should expect is that Amadio will likely maintain his status on the fourth line with a possibility of third line appearances. This is not exactly a guarantee as he will have Brett Howden looking to take his place in the pecking order. Most of this should iron itself out during training camp as new coach Bruce Cassidy looks to iron out how the roster shapes out.

Providing that Amadio maintains his place in line, the numbers should see a slightly significant increase but in reality, the numbers should be set on the status quo of 15-20 points. His appearances should be around 45-50 games depending on the way the roster shapes up.  The one thing that is a given is that he will bring his best every time he steps on the ice.

If Howden ends up being the one to replace Amadio in the line-up, there is a chance that the Golden Knights will either seek a trade or just place the Ontario-native on waivers, In any sense, decisions will need to be made rather soon.
