The Vegas Golden Knights are battling injuries once again and that’s led to multiple prospects getting another chance in the NHL. Now, this isn’t uncommon for some of the Knights prospects, but not all of them.

Golden Knights goalie Robin Lehner is battling an injury that led to the Knights calling up prospect, Logan Thompson. With Robin Lehner out, the Knights handed the reigns off to Laurent Brossoit, but after starting back-to-back games, the Knights gave Thompson the start.

The Golden Knights injury history may not be helpful to the players getting injured, but it helps the prospects out greatly. For example, yesterday’s start was only Logan Thompson’s second of the season, and it’s safe to say that he’s earned another start.

Laurent Brossoit got the start against the Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings, and he lost both games. Now, I will say that against the Avalanche, despite losing 0-2, he played very well. He made a ton of great saves that kept them in the game, but the lack of offense led to them being shutout.

Looking at the game against the Los Angeles Kings, Brossoit once again made a lot of great saves, but he still lost the game. It wasn’t all his fault, I mean the defense struggled greatly that game, but he was a little bit slow when moving along his crease. I presume it just had to do with having to be on his A game against the Avalanche. He was tired.

Brossoit needing a break led to Thompson getting the start against the San Jose Sharks and maybe I’m being ridiculous in thinking this, but he played very well.

Now, I know that the San Jose Sharks aren’t exactly a power-house by any stretch, but they still have some very good players on their team. Between Tomas Hertl, Timo Meier, and Brent Burns they have talent there.

This win was a good win not just for the Knights, but for Thompson as well. He’s struggled trying to find time with the Knights given how many goalies the Knights have had since becoming a team. I mean, this was Thompson’s third career NHL start.

Listening to the post-game interview, all of his teammates had nothing but good things to say about him. With Lehner still aways away from returning, Thompson will more than likely get another start which prompts the question, when could we see him in net?

Well, the Golden Knights are off until Friday in which they will be heading to Arizona to take on the Coyotes. Given that it’s their next game, I’d assume that they’d give Brossoit that start. However, their next game is the following day against the Avalanche. So, if I had to take a guess, I’d say as things stand- Thompson will more than likely get the nod against the Coyotes.
