Should the Golden Knights Start Logan Thompson Against the Sharks?
The Vegas Golden Knights are without Robin Lehner for the foreseeable future. As Robin Lehner works his way back from an injury, Laurent Brossoit will handle the reigns. However, Brossoit has started two games straight which could imply that the Knights could start Thompson against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday.
With Robin Lehner out for more than likely a couple more weeks, Thompson is bound to get a start or two. However, given the importance of the upcoming games, it hard to play a goalie who doesn’t have much experience. That brings us back to what I said in the first paragraph.
As Robin Lehner works his way back from an injury, Laurent Brossoit will handle the reigns. With Brossoit having started two games back-to-back, should the Golden Knights give Logan Thompson the start Sunday against the Sharks?
The Golden Knights have a goalie situation which, couldn’t really be happening at a worse time. However, they can use this time to see what they have in goalie prospect, Logan Thompson.
Logan Thompson is currently the Golden Knights top goalie prospect and starter for the Henderson Silver Knights. Well, I suppose it’s more or less former at this point given he is on the Golden Knights active roster. But you understand the point I presume.
Anyways, getting back on track. Logan Thompson is filling in as the Golden Knights backup while Lehner recovers. In doing so, it’s very likely that the Golden Knights will try and see what they have in Thompson during this period of time. But this is where things get tricky.
The Golden Knights are in a tough spot with their division and losing streak so each and every game is going to be a must-win for quite some time. Therefore, can you really afford to give Thompson a start?
Well, the Knights have a week off after their Sunday game against the San Jose Sharks, but giving Brossoit a night off could be better for the Knights than trying to force one more start out of him. Thompson could give Brossoit the night off and a chance to relax. Not to mention, as I said above, give the Knights a chance to see what they have with Thompson.
With such a small sample size when it comes to NHL games, this chance could be the perfect time to rely on Thompson and give him a sizeable workload and let him adapt to the NHL. After all, he is the Golden Knights top goalie prospect and isn’t getting any younger. It’s about time we see what we have in him.
