Alec Martinez is the prime example of the guy that really drives you crazy.
Martinez this season has missed over a month worth of games due to injury and being placed in COVID protocol. Now, obviously trading him isn’t exactly what the fans, coaching staff, players, or organization would want to do. However, this seems like something you need to do.
If the Vegas Golden Knights open his name up to the trade block, the value you could get back for him would be quite high compared to Smith or Dadonov. Therefore, trading Martinez makes more sense for the organization.

Now, me saying this isn’t to take away from the talent that Martinez posses, but more so the fact that the Golden Knights have the depth to replace him ready to go. With Ben Hutton, Nicolas Hague, Dylan Coghlan, and Daniil Miromanov right there waiting for the opportunity, the Knights won’t be lacking depth to fill his void.
