Is Logan Thompson Ready to Step-up for the Golden Knights?

The Vegas Golden Knights, in Robin Lehner’s absence, were able to give Logan Thompson a chance in goal. In his first ever career start, he got to take on the red hot Nashville Predators and although he took a loss, he showed promise.

He started the game off with multiple great saves on great chances. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much help on defense. Which, when you have a rookie in net, you just can’t justify that. He is going to need help, and he didn’t really get it. He had a lot of blocks from both Brayden McNabb and Keegan Kolesar, but at the end of the day, it wasn’t enough. The Knights ended up walking away from that game with a loss.

However, he held his own against a rather respectable team in the league. Now, this next statement may not sit well with many of you guys reading this article, or maybe it will I don’t know. Nonetheless, my thought on the game was that he did a very good job, but the lack of experience showed at the end of the day. He needs time to adjust to the quickness at the next level and the only way to do that is give him chances.

So is Logan Thompson ready to step-up if he gets his chance? Maybe. We don’t know. But if the Vegas Golden Knights get the chance to give him a true shot, I think they’d find out he can actually be a pretty reliable option in goal.
