The Vegas Golden Knights recently just got their captain, Mark Stone back. Not to mention that only a couple games later his line-mate, Max Pacioretty, returned to the ice as well. Although getting those two back gives most fans enough joy to last the season, their returns did more than just that. Since both forwards returned to the lineup, everything has seemed to start coming up in favor of Vegas.

The Vegas Golden Knights, to start the season, had enough injuries to last an entire season. Everything started to go downhill after the first game of the season. It started with Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty and continued downhill with Mattias Janmark, Alec Martinez, Nolan Patrick, Zach Whitecloud, Shea Theodore, Jonathan Marchessault, and if you’d like, I can keep going. That’s how sad it is, I just listed eight names and yet I’m still leaving multiple out.

The Vegas Golden Knights have arranged a very impressive roster built around multiple top tier names. However, one of the best players in the National Hockey League, who is in fact a Golden Knight, isn’t even that close to returning. Or is it?

The Vegas Golden Knights have always been considered one of the most aggressive teams in the trade market, but that’d be the understatement of the century. The Knights, the minute they hear a big name is on the trade market, might as well just send over all of their young prospects and a pick or two because they aren’t going to stop until they acquire him.

When the Vegas Golden Knights got in touch with the Buffalo Sabres regarding star center, Jack Eichel, it seemed like a match made in heaven. Well for some for other’s let’s just say that they weren’t thrilled with the package that the Sabres wanted. Nonetheless, Eichel is now a Vegas Golden Knight and is working his way to get back on the ice.

Jack Eichel Could be Close to Returning

The Vegas Golden Knights acquired Jack Eichel from the Buffalo Sabres after he decided to go a different direction than what the organization wanted. Last season, Eichel injured himself and it was professionally ruled a herniated disc.

The Buffalo Sabres wanted him to treat it was a normal herniated disc surgery however, Eichel wanted to go a different route. Eichel, after doing a bunch of research himself decided he wanted to get a surgery for an artificial disc. That was the main falling out between the Sabres and Eichel that ultimately led to him becoming a Golden Knight.

Now, we are caught up to present day. After Jack Eichel received his preferred surgery, he is finally back on the ice skating for the Vegas Golden Knights. Earlier today we got our first look at the future franchise center of the Knights in gear.

As you can see there was no contact, or even a puck on his stick, but he was back to doing some edging work and skating again. His original timeline post-surgery was that he’d be able to return in late January but the fact that he’s already skating again shows that he may be closer than you think. Now there is no official word on how he felt after skating, but everything looked good from what I was able to gather.

Hopefully, he can recover quick while staying healthy. Even given the Vegas Golden Knights current roster, getting Eichel into the lineup will be huge.
