Vegas Golden Knights star defenseman, Alec Martinez, left the game early against the Blues this past Wednesday. Although nothing has been ruled official, the Knights promoted Daniil Miromanov yesterday.

The Vegas Golden Knights star defenseman, Alec Martinez, left the game early against the St. Louis Blues this past Wednesday. Come time for practice yesterday, the Knights notified the fans that they have promoted defenseman, Daniil Miromanov, to their NHL roster.

After getting tripped by Blues prospect, Klim Kostin in the third period, Martinez went straight for the bench. After sitting on the bench for a short period of time, he ended up heading down to the locker room. Within a short period of time he was ruled out for the rest of the game. To this point, there has been no circumstantial evidence suggesting that Martinez is going to be available for the game against the Oilers tonight. So with that being said, it makes sense for the Oilers to call up Miromanov.

Daniil Miromanov has been with the Knights organization for only a year, but apparently he’s done something right. He started the season with the Henderson Silver Knights, in which he has performed very well. So far through four games, he has two goals, and two assists for four total points. Although that is not extreme, it stood out to DoBoer.

Earlier yesterday, Pete BoBoer stated that Daniil Miromanov was “Clearly the next guy”. So what can we expect from Miromanov?

Daniil Miromanov, although he was called up, probably won’t have a very large role with the team. Lucky for the Knights, unfortunate for the prospects, the depth at the defensive position is quite extensive. However, with his versatility to play the defensive position, and also the ability to play the wing, he could see some minutes in the forward rotation as well. So although the minutes won’t be there, if he can prove that he belongs at this level, this could be his chance to make a name for himself.
