Three Stars of the Game

  1. Robin Lehner is the clear choice for our First Star of the Game. It is a home run. The 2018-19 Vezina Trophy finalist was unstoppable in Game 3, stopping all 31 shots he faced including 10 shots on the power play. Lehner was a brick wall in the first period in particular, stopping 16 shots and he was big throughout. You need your goalie to win a game or two on his own in each series and Robin Lehner certainly did that in Game 3.
  2. Alex Tuch has been lights out so far during the Stanley Cup Playoffs and he’s a real X-Factor for the Golden Knights when he’s playing at the peak of his powers. And Tuch displayed his strengths early in the first period, showing unbelievable hand-eye coordination to bat down a superb saucer pass from Nicolas Roy before ripping a hell of a shot past Jacob Markstrom for the first goal of the game.
  3. Mark Stone is a cold-blooded killer in all situations, but especially in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. And the elite forward scored arguably the most important goal of the game early in the third period, beating Jacob Markstrom up high on the power play to effectively kill off the Canucks. Stone finished with a +1 rating, 1 shot on goal, 2 hits and 1 takeaway in 15:24 minutes of total ice time.

What’s Next

The Vegas Golden Knights now lead this series 2-1 and the momentum appears to be on their side.

Game 4 is on Sunday in what is the second game of a back-to-back, and the Golden Knights could move a step closer to advancing through to the Western Conference Finals if they can defeat the Vancouver Canucks for the second time in as many days.
