May the Fourth be with you! Today is Star Wars day so we decided it would be fun to take the Vegas Golden Knights to a Galaxy Far, Far Away…

To honor May the 4th properly and celebrate all that is great about the Star Wars franchise, we have come up with a fun exercise involving the Vegas Golden Knights.

Including all the various spinoffs in addition to the main movies, we have imagined what Star Wars characters certain Golden Knights players would be perfect for.

Let’s dive in…

Ryan Reaves of the Vegas Golden Knights skates on the ice during a stop in play in the first period of a game against the New Jersey Devils at T-Mobile Arena on March 3, 2020.

Ryan Reaves – Darth Vader

The most feared man in the entire Galaxy, Darth Vader ruled with an iron fist and his mere presence sent shivers down the spines of many.

Striking fear in every single room he walked into and able to crush enemies with the mere clench of a fist, the Chosen One turned scariest Sith Lord of all time is the ultimate baddie.

That’s why Ryan Reaves is the Golden Knights’ version of Darth Vader.

Known as the best fighter in the entire NHL, there’s not too many players out there brave enough to do the dance with Reaves.

Plus, putting his hulking and powerful frame to good use, Reaves can shatter opponents without breaking much of a sweat.

Like Darth Vader was the most feared man in the Galaxy, Ryan Reaves is one of the most feared men in the National Hockey League.

George McPhee – Darth Sidious / Sheev Palpatine

Okay, before we go on we mean this comparison in the nicest possible way to Golden Knights President of Hockey Operations George McPhee.

But, just like Darth Sidious ruled the Galaxy and created Darth Maul and Darth Vader, McPhee is trying his best to rule the NHL with the Vegas Golden Knights.

After gifting the NHL the ultimate present of Alex Ovechkin while GM of the Washington Capitals, McPhee has since been responsible for creating the ultimate Death Star in the Golden Knights, an expansion team who defied all critics by making a stunning run to the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural year.

Now taking a more senior role, McPhee is sitting in his throne while watching his apprentice, General Manager Kelly McCrimmon, try to finish the job by taking a Stanley Cup back to Sin City.

Cody Glass – Anakin Skywalker

The Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker was destined for a long and prestigious career as a Jedi, the one meant to bring peace to the Galaxy for all eternity.

However, under the influence of Palpatine and giving in to heartache and pain, Anakin crossed over to the dark side, leaving the Galaxy shrouded in darkness.

The first-ever Draft pick in franchise history, Cody Glass was meant to be the chosen one for the Golden Knights.

And he still is.

However, a slew of injuries curtailed Glass’ progress in his rookie year and, although the stud forward still possesses a high ceiling, Vegas fans will be hoping that the center doesn’t embark on a path towards darkness anytime soon.

Nate Schmidt – Baby Yoda

Is it too premature to say that Baby Yoda is the best thing to happen to Star Wars in a long, long time?

With his big wide eyes and naughty personality, Baby Yoda has taken the Star Wars universe by storm and was a huge factor in The Mandalorian becoming a home run success on Disney+.

And there is no doubt who the Golden Knights equivalent of Baby Yoda is.

Funny, endearing but always getting up to no good, Nate Schmidt is the lovable child on the team and, as we’ve seen during the lockdown and thanks to the “Quarantine Chronicles’, the defenseman is always up to something.

Just like Baby Yoda.

Alex Tuch – Darth Maul

Blessed with skill, speed and power, Darth Maul had all the makings of a legendary Sith Lord but his promising career was cut short after being chopped in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi during The Phantom Menace.

How rude.

You can’t help but wonder just how great a career Darth Maul could have forged for himself, but he’ll always be my favorite Sith because of that double-blade Lightsaber.

Alex Tuch, like Darth Maul, is blessed with an arsenal of weapons but, also like the Sith Lord, can’t stay healthy.

While Tuch has never been sliced in half, and let’s hope it stays that way, the forward saw his 2019-20 season ravaged by a bevy of injuries a year after he exploded onto the scene with 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) the year before.

Let’s hope that Tuch can put his recent injury hell behind him and go on to fulfill his true potential, unlike Darth Maul.

Mark Stone – Obi-Wan Kenobi

A highly-regarded Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi honed his craft and put the work in before becoming one of the most respected Jedi in the Galaxy.

Wise and able to swing a Lightsaber with such grace, Kenobi has a boatload of skill but he’s also a student of his game and is also a natural leader.

The same applies to Mark Stone. Blessed with elite skill, the winger went through the process with the Ottawa Senators on his way to becoming a star in the NHL, and he’s now taken that to the next level with the Golden Knights.

A respected leader on and off the ice, Stone excels in both zones and he’s also got an exceptional mind as does Kenobi.

Stone is the Golden Knights’ undisputed Jedi Master.

Jonathan Marchessault – Han Solo / Master Yoda

We’re mixing it up here.

Small but blessed with blistering speed and a boatload of skill, Jonathan Marchessault resembles Master Yoda in that what he lacks in stature he more than makes up for in brilliance on the ice.

He can create something out of nothing and is prepared to battle in-front of the net as well, while Marchessault also has silky hands and can handle the puck like Yoda can handle a Lightsaber.

Also, Marchessault has the honor of being compared to two Star Wars characters given that he also resembles the legendary Han Solo.

Next. Golden Knights might regret missing out on Lehtonen. dark

Confident and carrying the reputation as a scoundrel, Solo was everyone’s lovable boy next door but, like Marchessault, never quite knew when to stop running his mouth.

Marchessault and Solo both allow their short fuse to get them in trouble on occasion, but both sure know how to pull the trigger and obliterate their opponent.
