1. Debut Joy for Cousins

Scoring on your debut for the Vegas Golden Knights has become somewhat of a tradition, both through the history of the franchise and this year.

Take this season for instance with no less than six players having now scored in their first game as a Golden Knight.

Cousins became the latest member of that party after scoring on his debut against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday.

The forward, acquired in a trade from the Montreal Canadiens at the Trade Deadline, got to the front of the net and batted in a rebound after Alec Martinez had let rip with a wicked one-timer.

In lighting the lamp, Cousins joined Cody Glass, Nicolas Roy, Chandler Stephenson, Patrick Brown and Alec Martinez in scoring on their debuts for the Golden Knights this season.

Furthermore, Cousins became the 10th player in franchise history to score on their Vegas debut with James Neal, Vadim Schipachyov, Alex Tuch and Brandon Pirri having also achieved the feat.

There is no exact science as to why so many players have hit the ground running for Vegas in terms of lighting the lamp, but it is certainly only a good thing and a tradition the Golden Knights will hope that continues.

And it was also an impressive first game for Cousins who finished with one point, three shots on goal, one hit and two blocked shots in 12:09 minutes of total ice time.

Cousins was brought in to provide secondary scoring while being able to provide depth, and it was certainly a good start to the forward’s career with the Vegas Golden Knights.
