1. Knights hitting their stride

The Vegas Golden Knights have been plagued by inconsistency all year and they have failed to take advantage of being in a very bad Pacific Division.

However, with the most important chunk of the regular season about to commence, the Golden Knights are starting to settle into a groove.

After beating the reigning Stanley Cup Champions the St. Louis Blues in a wild overtime win, the Knights followed that up by gutting out a shutout win over the New York Islanders.

But this was arguably the most impressive win of the bunch given that the Washington Capitals have been one of the best teams in the entire NHL all year.

They boast the surefire Norris Trophy winner in John Carlson, while Alex Ovechkin has been shattering records left, right and center.

The Caps were no match for the Golden Knights, though, who came out with a clear game-plan and executed it to perfection.

They raced into a two-goal lead before controlling the second period and lighting the lamp again thanks to Max Pacioretty.

The most impressive aspect of the win, however, was the way the Knights withstood a late barrage from the Capitals who made it a one-goal game thanks to two goals from T.J. Oshie.

A hallmark of an elite team is battling through adversity and finding a way to win, and that’s exactly what the Vegas Golden Knights did against one of the best teams in the NHL.
