2. Limited disruption

The headline sounds crazy given what has unfolded today, but what we mean by that is the fact that the majority of the Vegas Golden Knights coaching staff will remain.

Assistant Coach Mike Kelly also lost his job with Gerard Gallant but Assistant Coaches Ryan Craig, Ryan McGill and Tommy Cruz will remain in place.

Also, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reported earlier that Goalie Coach Dave Prior is still with the team too.

GM Kelly McCrimmon confirmed that new Head Coach Peter DeBoer, who is expected to arrive in Ottawa either tonight or first thing on Thursday morning, won’t be bringing in an assistant of his own.

That could change but, for now at least, it is the right decision in terms of limiting the disruption as much as possible.

After all, there are only 33 regular season games remaining and DeBoer has a lot of work to do with his new team, so the less upheaval the better in this scenario.
