My Three Stars of the Game

  1. Shea Theodore is having himself quite the year and he was the best player on the ice for the Vegas Golden Knights in Buffalo with a two-point night. Theodore assisted on both of Vegas’ goals and the defenseman, as he has done for a large chunk of this regular season, led all Vegas skaters in total ice time with 23:04 minutes. Theodore is on way to carving out a career-year and the defenseman now has 28 points (six goals, 22 assists) on the year.
  2. Reilly Smith has seen almost everything he has touched this year turn to gold, and the forward tallied his 19th goal of the year on Tuesday with a beautiful wrister on the power play. In a year where the Golden Knights have struggled to generate secondary scoring, Smith has led from the front and is now third on the team in points with 37 (19 goals, 18 assists).
  3. Marc-Andre Fleury allowed four goals on 25 shots but, if it wasn’t for the future Hall of Famer, then it is fair to argue that Buffalo could have been out of sight by the end of the first period. Fleury was peppered with a flurry of shots in the opening period, but he made some big stops and gave his team a chance to win.

Looking Ahead

This is a long road trip for the Vegas Golden Knights and they will have Wednesday off before heading to Canada to take on the plucky Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

The Knights will then face Montreal Canadiens on Saturday before heading to Boston for a showdown with the Bruins on Tuesday in what will be the final game before the All-Star Break.
