Recent history repeated itself on Tuesday night as Marc-Andre Fleury stole the show again in the Vegas Golden Knights’ 2-1 shootout success over the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center.

After suffering an ugly loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday, it was straight back to work for the Vegas Golden Knights as they attempted to finish this three-game road trip with a winning record.

And it was mission accomplished in large part thanks to Fleury, who produced yet another stellar outing after stopping 31 of the 32 shots that was fired at him, clinching his 446th win to move into seventh place on the all-time win list.

Shea Theodore also made himself a hero after scoring the winning goal in the Shootout, with his efforts moving the Golden Knights to 7-4-0 on the year and 2-1-1 on this road trip.

It was somewhat of a minor miracle that Vegas escaped this game with a win given that they trailed for most of the game, and they now haven’t scored a 5-on-5 goal in over 170 minutes.

Kirby Dach, playing in only his second NHL game, scored his first-ever goal in the National Hockey League after being left all alone on the backdoor.

Fleury pulled off a plethora of highlight-reel plays throughout the game, including a stunning pad save to rob Patrick Kane.

In truth, the Golden Knights would have faced another ugly scoreline for the second consecutive game were it not for the heroics of Fleury, who absolutely stood on his head for large chunks of the contest.

Blackhawks goalie Robin Lehner was also sharp when called upon, thwarting Mark Stone with a couple of big saves in the third period but he was unable to prevent Nick Holden from taking the game to Overtime after the defenseman one-timed a delicious feed from Mark Stone through the pads of Lehner with Fleury pulled for an extra skater.

Vegas were gifted a power play in Overtime and they looked to have won the game, only for Lehner to deny Max Pacioretty in breathtaking fashion.

So, for the second time this season, the Knights went to the Shootout with Jonathan Toews converting for Chicago in the first round while Brandon Pirri missed for Vegas.

Fleury stopped Patrick Kane and Jonathan Marchessault scored, which set up a third and final round with Shea Theodore scoring the winning goal after Fleury stopped Alex DeBrincat with a superb pad save.

Theodore displayed some filthy moves before backhanding the puck past Lehner, and the Golden Knights will now return home before facing the red hot Colorado Avalanche on Friday at T-Mobile Arena.

Let’s go over some notes and stats from the game…
