3. Final Verdict

Spoiler alert – we think this is an absolute no-brainer.

This Vegas Golden Knights team as it is currently constituted is built to win both right now and for the foreseeable future given the collection of stars they have tied down to long-term contracts.

Marc-Andre Fleury is still an elite goalie – as backed up by his play through the first three weeks of this season – but he’s going to turn 35 in November and the goalie depth within the organization at present isn’t the strongest.

By bringing in Braden Holtby, who will have a point to prove should he leave the Washington Capitals next off-season, you not only give yourselves an elite goaltending tandem for two years until Fleury’s current contract expires, but you also buy yourselves more time when it comes to finding a long-term heir to the throne.

Holtby is a proven winner and he’s got a Stanley Cup to his name, so he knows what it takes to reach the holy land and he can apply that knowledge to the Vegas locker room in order to help this team cross the finishing line.

He’s a clutch player who can perform the unthinkable in key moments on the biggest stage and, while he would cost quite a bit to say the least, you pay for what you get and the Vegas Golden Knights would be getting an absolute stud between the pipes who would only strengthen their bid to win now.
