Let’s go over some notes from the game:

  • The Vegas Golden Knights lost their first game in three outings and are now 6-4-0 on the year.
  • They are also now 3-2-0 on the road after dropping the second game of this three-game road trip.
  • The Philadelphia Flyers, on the other hand, snapped a four-game losing streak and are now 3-3-1 on the year.
  • Marc-Andre Fleury was given a well-deserved night off and, with Malcolm Subban still day-to-day, Oscar Dansk was handed his first NHL start since October, 30, 2017.
  • It was a night to forget for Dansk, however, as he allowed six goals on 37 shots and, although he made 31 saves, it is likely Dansk will be back in the AHL as soon as Malcolm Subban is healthy.
  • Jonathan Marchessault scored his second goal of the year and the forward now has six points on the year.
  • Mark Stone grabbed an assist on that goal and he now has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) through 10 games, while William Karlsson also had a helper on Marchessault’s tuck and the Swedish forward has nine points (one goal, eight assists) on the year.
  • Reilly Smith has been lethal in front of net through the first few weeks of the season, and he potted his seventh goal last night and now has eight points on the year.
  • Nick Holden (two points, 1 G, 1 A) and Jon Merrill (two points, 2 A) got the helpers on Smith’s goal.
  • Vegas went 1-for-5 on the power play and their PP is now ranked fifth in the NHL (28.6) through 10 games.
  • The Golden Knights had a rare off-night on the penalty kill, allowing two power play goals on five attempts, and it dropped their PK unit to 4th in the NHL (90.0).
  • The Knights were outshot 37-35, they were outclassed in the faceoff circle 57%-43% and they were outhit 15-11, although they did block 12 shots to Philly’s nine.
  • Shea Theodore again led all Vegas skaters in ice time with 22:11, while there wasn’t a single shot attempt with Mark Stone on the ice, which won’t happen again this year. I’m sure of that.
  • The Official Three Stars of the night were: 1. Michael Raffl 2. Oskar Lindblom 3. Matt Niskanen.

dark. Next. Fleury on pace for historic year

The only good thing to come out of this game for the Vegas Golden Knights is the fact that they will get a quick shot at redemption given that they finish this road trip in Chicago against the Blackhawks on Tuesday – 5:30 p.m. PT.
