The Vegas Golden Knights will be hoping to secure a win on home ice against the Ottawa Senators tonight before hitting the road.

After losing to the Nashville Predators 5-2 earlier in the week, the Vegas Golden Knights have the chance to get back to winning ways against the Senators tonight at T-Mobile Arena, their final home game before a three-game road trip.

Tonight will see Mark Stone reunited with his former team and it should be an emotional one for the elite forward, given that he spent the majority of his career in the NHL with the Senators.

And, talking of Stone, the wing has been in red hot form to begin the year and he currently leads the Golden Knights in points with 11 (five goals, six assists). He also has five points on the power play.

Stone is playing at the peak of his powers right now and he’ll no doubt play with added motivation against an Ottawa team tonight who have struggled so far in 2019-20.

The Senators are in full-on rebuild mode right now having shed their biggest stars over the last few years, including Stone and defenseman Erik Karlsson, although they do have young studs in Thomas Chabot and Brady Tkachuk who look to be the future of the franchise.

The keys to the game for Vegas tonight will be simple; good goaltending from Marc-Andre Fleury who has been elite through seven games having made a plethora of huge saves in every start he’s made.

Vegas’ special teams will also be key tonight as they have been through the first seven games, with both the power play and the penalty kill ranking in the top top ten of the NHL.

The Golden Knights have got plenty of offense from their formidable top six unit to start the year, but they are going to need contributions from up and down their lineup tonight.

The likes of Ryan Reaves, William Carrier and Tomas Nosek will also have big roles to play given that Ottawa will play a chippy game, with the likes of Brady Tkachuk able to take on the role of enforcer for his team.

Let’s go over some of the key information you will need at your disposal ahead of tonight’s game…
