Tonight is the battle of the perfect records as the Vegas Golden Knights go head-to-head against the Boston Bruins in a mouthwatering matchup at T-Mobile Arena.

Both teams come into tonight’s eagerly anticipated contest with 2-0-0 records, although the Vegas Golden Knights and the Bruins have carved out their perfect starts to the 2019-20 NHL regular season in entirely different fashions.

The Knights have been dominant out of the traps and they beat up the San Jose Sharks in both games of a home-and-home double-header, outscoring their bitter rivals 9-2 with goalie Marc-Andre Fleury stopping 55 of 57 shots.

Boston, on the other hand, have had to grind their way to both wins after edging a tightly contested season opener against the Dallas Stars 2-1 last week, before Jaroslav Halak backstopped the Bruins to a 35-save shutout win against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday.

The Bruins boast one of the top lines in all of hockey with Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak, although the trio have yet to get going having only contributed a combined total of two points so far, with Pastrnak yet to get on the board this year.

However, it is only a matter of time until that line explodes into life and the Vegas defense will have a mammoth task on their hands tonight not only dealing with that formidable trio, but also the depth the Bruins have throughout their lineup.

Brett Ritchie and Danton Heinen got the goals for Boston in their season opener against the Dallas Stars and the Bruins have a stacked bottom six forward unit, which will welcome bruising powerhouse grinder David Backes into the fold tonight after he was a healthy scratch at the weekend against Arizona.

Boston also have a plethora of weapons on the blueline, including Torey Krug, young guns Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo and the ageless warrior, Zdeno Chara. Tuukka Rask will get the start between the pipes tonight and the elite goalie against Vegas’ glut of offensive talent will be a key matchup.

Another familiarity between the Golden Knights and the Bruins is that they both have a 100 percent success rate on the penalty kill this year, with Vegas also having three shorthanded goals under their belt, and with both teams able to cause damage on the power play, special teams will take on extra importance tonight.

Here is the projected lineups for both Vegas and Boston heading into tonight’s contest…
