You know the new season is nearly here when the NHL holds their traditional Media Day, and the Vegas Golden Knights were well represented by Jonathan Marchessault.

A host of the NHLโ€™s biggest and brightest stars descended on Chicago for Media Day, including Jonathan Marchessault who was the lone representative for the Vegas Golden Knights. It was an action-packed day for those involved and it only served to raise the hype for the new season.

NHL Media Day is always an important date on the calendar given that it marks the starting point of the new hockey season, and there was plenty of content on social media for fans to enjoy no matter what team you support.

There was an interview with Boxing legend Mike Tyson who spoke about his liking for the Golden Knights, the Colorado Avalanche had fun following their stud defenseman Cale Makar around, Matt Duchene used a hockey stick for a guitar and Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews amazed with his facial hair.

And then you have Jonathan Marchessault who was his usual entertaining self as he flew the flag for the Golden Knights in Chicago. He messed around in-front of the Green Screen, posed for close-ups and then finished his day in style by taking in the NFL opener between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers.

There is no doubt that Marchessault is one of the many jokers in the Golden Knights in the locker room and he is known for playing practical jokes on his team-mates, so he was a good choice to send to Chicago in order to bring some fun to procedures.

All in all, it was a pretty fun day for Marchessault at the North American Player Media Tour and there will probably be more content to come out in the coming days for our enjoyment.

We wonder too if Marchessault managed to sneak a delightful Chicago slice in before the hard work of training camp gets underway. We know we would have!

What it all means though is that the 2019-20 NHL season is nearly upon us and that in itself is a reason to scream in joy and go wild. It has been a long old off-season and we for one canโ€™t wait for hockey to return.

In other news, the Vegas Golden Knights also revealed their top-three highest-rated players on the hugely popular NHL 20 video game from EA Sports, which is set for worldwide release on Sep, 13.

Mark Stone and Marc-Andre Fleury will be the highest-rated Golden Knights players on the game with 88 OVR, while Jonathan Marchessault will be the third-best player on NHL 20 for Vegas with a 86 OVR rating.

Those ratings are no surprise given what each of the three brings to the table for Vegas, and I for one canโ€™t wait to get my hands on NHL 20 next week and lead the Golden Knights to Stanley Cup glory!
