Vegas Golden Knights Report Card: Daniel Carr
Why The Grade
Six games in the NHL isn’t enough of a sample size to be able to fairly award a grade for Daniel Carr’s year with the Vegas Golden Knights.
He brought a high compete level every time he stepped onto the ice, averaging a total of 9:20 minutes of ice time per game.
Carr had three blocked shots, nine hits and three takeaways along with a CF% rating of 61.6 and a oZS% of 64.0.
The lasting memory Golden Knights fans will have of Carr will of course be his one and only goal for the franchise in that dominant 8-3 win against the Blackhawks in Nov. 2018, where the left wing went top-shelf on Corey Crawford to give Vegas an early 1-0 lead.
It will be Carr’s exploits in the AHL that will grab the headlines, of course, and if we were doing a Report Card based just on his year in the AHL then Carr would have been walking away with an A+.
His 71 points (30 goals, 41 assists) in 52 regular season games for the Chicago Wolves earned Carr the Les Cunningham Award, given to the Most Valuable Player in the AHL.
It is fair to say that Carr has achieved everything he can in the American Hockey League and he’s shown in flashes that he can become a bottom six forward in the NHL.
Ultimately, his time with the Vegas Golden Knights didn’t work out but he’s now got the chance to prove he can succeed in the NHL with the Nashville Predators.
