The contingent of Vegas Golden Knights at the IIHF World Championships are continuing to have a big say for their respective countries in Slovakia.

We’ll start with Nikita Gusev, who is currently playing at the peak of his powers and giving Vegas Golden Knights fans a tantalising taste of what he could offer the franchise in 2019-20.

Gusev is on an absolute tear for Team Russia and he played a huge role in their 3-0 win against Team Switzerland on Sunday.

The left-wing had two assists in the game, including a sublime dish for Nikita Kucherov’s power play goal in the second period.

Gusev has been lights out for Russia in this tournament and he now has three goals and eight assists for 11 points, which puts him sixth overall on the scoring leaderboard and third overall in assists, behind Jakub Voracek of the Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander.

Team Russia currently lead Group B with 18 points after six straight wins and they are back in action on Tuesday when they face off against Sweden.

It has also been a productive day for the Golden Knights’ trio of Canadian stars with Mark Stone, Jonathan Marchessault and Shea Theodore all helping Team Canada to a fifth straight win courtesy of a 5-0 hammering of Denmark.

Marchessault and Stone got the helpers on Luc-Pierre Dubois’ tuck in the first period, and Jared McCann of the Pittsburgh Penguins would add to the lead.

Team Canada were in total control from the first drop of the puck and they had a 3-0 lead to take into the second period thanks to Marchessault, who potted his third goal of the tournament thanks in part to a secondary helper from Stone, who tallied a hat-trick against Germany on Saturday.

Buffalo Sabres forward Sam Reinhart would register a goal in the second and third period to wrap up the win and keep Team Canada firmly entrenched in second place in Group A, with a tough test against Team USA up next on Tuesday.

Following today’s game Marchessault has three goals and six assists for nine points in six games, Stone has five goals and three assists for eight points in six games and Theodore is stuck on five points (one goal, four assists) after being held without a point in his last two outings.
