It has been a dominant couple of days for the Vegas Golden Knights players involved in the IIHF World Championships in Slovakia.

The Vegas Golden Knights have four players flying the flag for them with Nikita Gusev representing Team Russia, and Shea Theodore, Mark Stone and Jonathan Marchessault on the Team Canada roster.

And the quartet are continuing to shine for their respective countries after getting off to strong starts over the weekend.

After losing 3-1 to Finland on Friday Team Canada bounced back with a vengeance on Sunday after thrashing Great Britain 8-0, where Detroit Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha led the way with a five-point (two goals. three assists) night.

Team Canada captain and Nashville Predators center Kyle Turris also enjoyed a strong outing with two goals and an assist for three points, with Great Britain unable to offer up any sort of resistance.

It was a good night for Marchessault and Theodore too who both helped themselves to a primary assist to take their points total in the tournament to two, which would only increase today.

And that leads us on to Team Canada’s 5-4 victory against Slovakia earlier today, which was highlighted by birthday boy Mark Stone scoring the winner with just 1.8 seconds remaining in regulation.

It was a wild game against the hosts who led 2-0 before yet another goal from Mantha dragged the Canadians back into the contest.

This was where the Golden Knights connections started to take over as Theodore tied things up with a beautiful one-timer on the power play. The pendulum would swing back in Slovakia’s favor on a couple of occasions, but the Vegas representatives would come up trumps for their country once more.

Firstly, Marchessault would convert on the man advantage for his second goal of the tournament before Stone put the icing on the cake on his birthday celebrations with a dramatic late winner as Team Canada made it two wins in as many days.

Stone now has two points in the IIHF World Championships, Marchessault has three and Theodore has four following a goal and an assist against Slovakia.

Meanwhile, Nikita Gusev continues to impress for Russia after tallying two assists in their win against Austria on Sunday, before recording a goal in his country’s victory over the Czech Republic earlier today as Russia continues to roll in the tournament.

Gusev now has five points (two goals, three assists) in three games and that will be music to the ears of all Vegas Golden Knights fans who will no doubt be hoping the young forward can carry that form into training camp.

Team Canada are next in action on Thursday when they pit their wits against France, while Russia will have to wait until Saturday for their next game when they take on Latvia.
