Golden Knights and their rivals the San Jose Sharks battle at the SAP center. The Golden Knights battle to move on. The Sharks battle to stay alive.

The game started at 7pm and despite typing it in a number of articles the last couple days, I still managed to be late. The Sharks were up 2-0.

The game is being streamed live on NBCSN for out of market fans and AT&T Sportsnet in Las Vegas.

Period 1

Depending what your heart doctor says, this was period was either a ton of fun or could be a trigger for an incident. Three goals were scored including a power play goal by the Golden Knight’s Reilly Smith to cut the Sharks’ lead in half.

The opening frame saw three scores. Tomas Hertl got one passed Fleury early and Logan Couture scored 11:00 minutes in.

The Sharks did not come to lay down and make it easy for the Golden Knights to advance.

Period 2

Despite an action packed period it wasn’t until 12:22 in the period that we saw something that would only surprise someone who didn’t see the face goal by Joe Pavelski . It was a right place at the right time deflection by Barclay Goodrow.

Like any soccer fan knows, being in the right place at the right time is also a skill.

Through two periods Martin Jones has stopped 17 and let in one. Fleury who we hoped was heating up stopped 15 and let in 3.

Period 3

San Jose didn’t want to go down at home. Marchessault got it within one but the San Jose Sharks never gave up the lead in a game that the Knights ended up losing 5-3.

The NHL playoff series between the Knights and Sharks heads back to the Fortress in Las Vegas on Sunday April 20th where the Knights will hopefully celebrate Easter with a playoff series win.

Will the Golden Knights close out the series? Or will the Sharks make it interesting?
