William Carrier is back in the fold with the Vegas Golden Knights.

The dog days of the NHL and Vegas Golden Knights offseasons are in full effect. Not much is happening around the league. You won’t be seeing many more additions to any team unless it comes via trade.

However, this is the time that teams are trying to sign their restricted free agents. The Golden Knights have already signed their own RFA’s in Colin Miller and Tomas Nosek. Today, they added one more name to that list of players.

On Monday, the Vegas Golden Knights re-signed forward William Carrier to a two-year contract worth $725,000 AAV. Carrier’s contract is worth a total of 1.45 million dollars over two years. An excellent deal for Carrier and the Golden Knights moving forward.

Carrier skated in just 37 games as a Golden Knight, and he only scored one goal, two assists, and three points. Obviously, Carrier is not an offensive threat by any stretch of the imagination. But he has many different roles he can play on this team.

The LaSalle, Quebec native has a significant amount of straightaway speed, and he can also draw a lot of penalties just by moving his feet. Admittedly, his hands aren’t the best which is why he chooses to fight more often than trying to score. Although, Carrier’s main strength is his physicality and it showed in the playoff series against the Los Angeles Kings.

Carrier gave top-flight defenseman Drew Doughty fits throughout the first round of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Any time Carrier had a chance to hit the Norris trophy candidate, he did, and the hits were very hard. Doughty became so frustrated that he tried to knock Carrier into orbit thus resulting in a suspension in game two of the first round series.

Next: Vegas Golden Knights Re-Sign Forward Tomas Nosek

All in all, with William Carrier back with the Vegas Golden Knights, that just leaves two RFA’s left to sign. Those two players being Shea Theodore and William Karlsson. Karlsson still has the upcoming arbitration hearing for August 4 in Toronto, while Theodore has yet to sign his qualifying offer by Vegas.
