The Vegas Golden Knights look like they could be without one of their leaders for a second straight game.

We all saw the Vegas Golden Knights respond with a strong effort in game two after falling behind to start off the Western Conference Finals. This time with the series tied, the Winnipeg Jets took a flight to Las Vegas in hopes to right the ship back in their favor. However, the Golden Knights will have something to say about that as they own the best record on home ice throughout the playoffs.

The Golden Knights play a structured game at home as they definitely feel more relaxed in their own building.  The team feeds off the energy of the crowd as it is one of the best home-ice advantages in hockey. There’s a reason why they’re 4-1 at T-Mobile Arena during the playoffs.

But the fans may be in for some bad news as one of their top players may not be ready to return to the lineup. David Perron stated that he is a game-time decision after today’s morning skate. The silver lining is the Sherbrooke, Quebec native is dealing with illness, not an injury.

I will say that he didn’t look right in game one when these two teams battled in Winnipeg on Saturday. It would be nice to get the 29-year old veteran back in the lineup, but that doesn’t look likely. When the Golden Knights win, Head Coach Gerard Gallant usually doesn’t change his lineup and with good reason.

Alex Tuch has worked wonderfully with Erik Haula and James Neal. And prized trade deadline acquisition Tomas Tatar even got in on the fun scoring his first goal of the playoffs in game two. If Perron is indeed ready to return, Gallant might very well still sit Perron based on how well the team clicked on Monday night.

On a related note, Malcolm Subban missed practice and has an “undisclosed issue.” If Perron’s illness has infected Subban, then it’s best to keep Subban away from the team. Max Lagace will suit up in Subban’s place to back up Marc-Andre Fleury.

All in all, it will be interesting to see if Perron makes his return for the Vegas Golden Knights tonight. In my opinion, I wouldn’t count on it, but we’ll watch warmups and see if he’s participating in line rushes. We’ll have all the updates on our Twitter page!
