The Vegas Golden Knights are ready to steal the show at the NHL Awards.
The city of Las Vegas was always the host for the NHL Awards. But what happens when the Vegas Golden Knights are ready takeover the NHL and their award show? Yes, you read that right.
Today, the NHL announced that the Golden Knights are special hosts of the 2017 NHL Award show on June 21st at T-Mobile Arena. The show will be televised live in the United States on NBCSN and in Canada on Sportsnet at 8:00 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT. Not only will the end of season awards be presented, but the Golden Knights will announce their entire roster on this two-hour show. I’m very curious to see how they break down this show.
Basically it’ll be two events on one stage. I’m guessing the NHL will announce a few award winners then they’ll have Vegas GM George McPhee make some picks. I just can’t see the NHL announcing the whole Golden Knights roster in one big segment.
Those who don’t know about the expansion draft process, here are some of the basic rules:
The Golden Knights will select one player from each existing club. Those teams will have the opportunity to protect either seven forwards, three defenseman and one goaltender or eight skaters and one goaltender.
Vegas Golden Knights Owner Bill Foley released a statement today on this years partnership. Let’s just say Foley’s really excited for the big day.
"“June 21st will be an incredible day for the city of Las Vegas and our fans. The anticipation around the expansion draft has been building for months and that excitement will continue to grow as we get closer to draft day. By combining the draft with the NHL Awards, Golden Knights fans will get to experience a monumental day in our team’s history while enjoying one of the premier NHL events that features the game’s biggest stars.”-Bill Foley"

I highly recommend everyone to go out of their way to see this event, it’s always fun to watch. Even if your new to the sport and just want to see who gets picked by the Golden Knights you’ll enjoy it. If you’re a diehard hockey fan and see who Vegas takes off your favorite team, this years NHL Awards is the only place to follow along. This is a must watch for hockey fans around the world.
