Episode Three a must watch for any Vegas Golden Knights fan.

The third episode of the Vegas Golden Knights series kicked off with Director of Hockey Operations Misha Donskov and Assistant Director of Player Personnel Bob Lowes discussing this years World Junior Championship tournament in Montreal. It looked as if they were watching a bit of Finland versus Latvia. Following that, Amateur Scout Erin Ginnell joined Lowes for Slovakia versus Sweden. Lowes and Ginnell brought up how awesome but taxing their jobs are for constantly traveling around the world watching games.

In the next segment, scouts arrived back to Vegas for mid-season meetings. Pro Scout Mike Foligno talked about how secretive and confidential the meetings are. Interesting little tidbit: The camera panned General Manager George McPhee and behind him was a board of American Hockey League players. Additionally, when Donskov came back to Vegas, he got a tour of the new practice facility.

Following that, Team President Kerry Bubolz held a meeting with the marketing on game presentation. The Vegas Golden Knights President specifically brought up how they want to separate themselves from other teams in terms of presentation. The in-depth topics talked about were National Anthem, dance team and goal horn. Topics that were also brought up but not discussed on camera were Game DJ’s Jumbotron videos, organ music and 3D projection mapping on the ice.

In the final segment, Owner Bill Foley had his turn to tour the practice facility. Foley was wowed by the incredible progress and how big the facility is. Foley also brought up the fact that this a two-floor building with two sheets of ice, two workout facilities team store and locker rooms.

Reaction: Donskov, Lowes and Ginnell gave lot’s of insight on what they’re looking for in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.  In this segment, the four European teams were highlighted in the World Junior Tournament. Whether that means something or not, that’s something to note come time for the NHL Draft. I also liked the player discussion meeting as well and the scouts look to have been discussing AHL teams. The tour of the new practice facility looked pretty fun but I didn’t need to see it twice in one episode. My favorite part of the show was actually the game presentation meeting. I was very interested in how much they let the fans in on that.  If anybody were to ask me what my opinions were on the topics presented at the meeting here they are:

Anthem Singer: Yes.

Dance Team: No. Ice Girls Yes.

Goal Horn something on the lines of this:

All in all, a great episode and a very good series thus far. Let’s hope to see some more behind the scenes meetings on the expansion and NHL Entry Drafts rather than another look at the practice facility. Being fair that there’s only so much content the team can fit in a half hour time slot. But very good job by the Golden Knights by putting together this series. This series attracts the casual fans and the die-hard fans as well. Hopefully by the time the next episode airs, maybe we get to see the happenings of the big Open House at T-Mobile Arena next week. Maybe even a sneak peek at jerseys because the fans are starting to get anxious.
