It is a strange world we live in and that certainly applies to the Vegas Golden Knights and the rest of the Pacific Division right now.

If you take a glance at the Pacific Division today then you would be mistaken for thinking someone has flipped it upside down.

I mean, after all, the Edmonton Oilers are sitting atop the pile and who would have thought that was possible prior to the start of the year?

Whether they can maintain this dominance remains to be seen but, for now at least, the Oilers are the top dog in the Pacific.

And that isn’t the only anomaly in this ultra competitive division, either, with just six points separating Edmonton in first place and the Anaheim Ducks in sixth.

The Arizona Coyotes and the Vancouver Canucks complete the top three with the Canucks in particular a hell of a fun team to watch, while the Vegas Golden Knights are way down in fifth place and the San Jose Sharks are the second worst team in the division.

It has been a struggle all year for the Sharks who are meant to be bang in the middle of their Stanley Cup contending window and, while they may have won four straight, they have hardly looked vintage in those games.

For the Golden Knights, on the other hand, they enjoyed a solid October but have completely fallen off the cliff in November, losing four straight and dropping six of their last seven games.

It has been ugly for Vegas and they are a flawed team, particularly on defense, although they should have enough offensive firepower to be doing far better than they currently are.

So, on that note, we’re going to delve into our inaugural edition of our Pacific Division Power Rankings, which we will look to do every couple of weeks.

Let’s dive in…
