It is all about bouncing back for the Vegas Golden Knights tonight as they hit the road to take on the Arizona Coyotes.

After winning their first two games of the 2019-20 NHL regular season, the Vegas Golden Knights suffered their first loss of the year on Tuesday after falling 4-3 to the Boston Bruins at T-Mobile Arena.

That defeat is now in the rearview mirror for the Knights, however, who tonight will start a slate of three Pacific Division matchups over the next four days. It is a critical stretch of games for Vegas who boasted a superb record of 18-8-3 against divisional rivals last year.

Divisional games are almost worth an extra point and, having already beaten the San Jose Sharks twice this year, the Golden Knights will know how important this weekend will be in terms of setting the tone and gathering some steam in the Pacific Division.

Malcolm Subban will get his first start of the year between the pipes tonight and it will be interesting to see how he performs early on, given that he has a history of getting off to shaky starts in games.

That will be the only lineup change for Vegas with center Cody Eakin not expected to play despite having made the trip to Arizona, while forward Alex Tuch (upper body injury) and defenseman Nate Schmidt (lower body injury) both remain on the IR.

The keys to emerging from tonight’s matchup successful for the Knights will be to cut out the costly turnovers that hurt them significantly against the Boston Bruins, while they also need production from their bottom six.

Vegas’ top two lines carried them against the Bruins and they had a monster night, but they can’t do it all and they need the third line in particular to step up and start producing some much-needed secondary scoring.

Arizona, on the other hand, are 0-2-0 to start the year and they have struggled offensively so far, scoring just one goal in two games despite making a huge splash in the off-season by trading for elite scorer Phil Kessel from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Kessel only has one point so far – an assist against the Anaheim Ducks in the season opener – and he’ll be hoping to explode into life against the Golden Knights just like Boston’s top line did on Tuesday night.

In order to spark their offense into life the Coyotes have called up Barrett Hayton, the franchise’s No. 5 overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. The high-end forward boasts huge potential and he will make his NHL debut tonight.

Hayton boasts a lethal shot and a high hockey IQ and he’s expected to play a big role for the Coyotes tonight, including getting time on the top power play unit.
